How do you REDUCE shine in hair?!?

I have naturally black hair that is VERY shiny.

I mean TOO shiny.

(As in, looks like my hair is a wig from a shampoo commercial or something! It annoyingly attracts weird attention, and people think I'm some superficial person who works on my hair all day!)

When I go out into the sun, it looks grey / oddly shiny.

As a child, my doctor told me that I have a rare hair color that is pure black, unlike extreme dark browns that people have (which appear as black).

I use normal shampoo without conditioner or any products.

I don't want to dye my hair. What can I do?!

Are you crazy....do you know how many people would die to have your hair? I can tell you that true black hair is a rarity because I am a hairstylist but when you see it -it is breath taking. I think you should embrace your uniqueness instead of trying to change it. Do you think Elvis would have been so popular if he would have had plain old brown hair? I think not! However, if you insist on changing your hair just put baby powder in it and brush through. The baby powder disappears and you are left with matte hair. Old Ladies do this to absorb the oil in their hair in between washes.

Well I have never heard of anyone with this problem..dont know why it bothers you so much..maybe if you dont wash it everyday?? Its just a sign of healthy hair

same here my hairs pretty dark and its insanely shiny. my bf once though i had a grey hair or something cus its so bright lol

its NOT oily. its just shiny cus my hair is not oily v
