Why did my hair change color?

I am 45 - male My hair was red, and a few years ago it changed color to this ash blonde (very light blonde) mixed with grey - my eye brows are still red ( maybe strawberry blonde is more accurate maybe) .

My brother's hair is still red. In 2003 - I got pancreatitis, and I had a hard time for a while, and I think that's when it changed colors. Some people said my meds could have caused it. Some people have suggested that I dye it back and I don't think that's a good idea. as I get healthier is it likely that my old color will come back? I don't know why this bothers me but it does.

I do NOT think that your haircolor will revert back to what it was. The pancreatitis itself may not have been the culprit and the state of your brothers hair isn't a god measure either, but the meds, as you said, sure could have had a hand in SPEEDING UP the hair color changing process. (Read=aging.) It is simple aging, done a bit faster than normal with a little chemical help.

I'm pretty sure that you're just going grey. People in my family go grey at thirty; so, not until 45 is impressive. If it really bothers you, why don't you want to dye it? If you want to hold out and then you decide to dye it, it will be much more obvious. If you don't want to dye it because you think that people will think you're gay or something, you could do it gradually until you get it back to your "natural" color. I hope this helps. Have you moved and changed water service or from city water to well water? There are lots of things that could cause this. From medication to hormonal to thyroid changes to pinced nerve to the water or shampoo. One would need more information to assess the cause.

sometimes as you get older your hair changes color naturallly. just because your brothers diddn't dosn't mean anything. I doubt it will change back
