Dye black hair brown?

i recently had my hair white blonde which i loved, but i needed it dark brown for school. I dyed it using permanent dark brown and it went nasty grey with green and purple patches, do i used the same dye again to try again, this time it went black with a purple tinge. I then used semi-permanent dye to cover the purple and it went jet black. Its been 3 days now and its gone black with red tinges in. I want it dark brown and am very confident with using hair dye! help!

ive heard i could dye it with blonde dye to get it red, then dye it dark brown. would this work?

oh, and my hair isnt in that good condition right now so i cant use bleach, or it will actually fall out haha

thanks!

Please go to a pro! don't mess with your hair if you dont know what your doing. youll cause real damage!

Dye black hair brown?

well if your "dying it blonde" you pretty much have to use bleach...you can;t just put a blonde box color ojn top of it, becuase it will not work..regular hair color will not lighten your color...

but after your hair is lightened, you will be able to put a medium brown over it..

there are a few different namebrands of things that will lighten your hair that are more gentle than bleach, I can't remember the name of them off hand but if you go to your local beauty supply store I'm sure you'll be able to find them

However..

I would advise you to please go to a professional hairdresser!

paying a little extra money will be sooo worth it!

you don;t want to ruin your hair even more

good luck :)

you really should have a professional do some corrective color on you. If your confident using chemicals you must first strip the hair of all it's color then add color. go to a beauty supply place and they can help w/ the chemicals you need. Good Luck

wow, i can' t think of any solution besides bleach.

seems like you have a ton of colors on your head right now, so it only makes sense to erase the problem and start all over.

you just can' t throw a color on top of another on top of another and expect it to look nice.

another solution besides bleach, its called color correct, and its more gentle on hair (try a beauty supply store)

good luck!

Well, you may think you are confident with your home hair coloring skills, but lets go over the theory of color. You said your hair was white blond. You bought a box of dark brown, and probably didn't look at what the base color is in that dark brown. Most drug store color has a blue base. Blue plus white = gray! pastel purple! If you had some yellow spots in your blond hair, yellow + blue = green. Continuing to put permanent color over your hair is only making the problem worse. You need a toner. If you have a local beauty supply, let them know you need to neutralize ash, which is what you have put into your hair. Most of the time it would a yellow/orange or gold toner, depending on the color line.

If you put blond on your hair, it will do nothing but create more damage. It will not turn your hair different colors, it will do nothing but hurt your again. Color NEVER lifts color. Good luck, and maybe next time you should see a professional. It cost around $60 just to get an all over color. It's not too much out of pocket.
