I am looking for the name of a preacher/evangelist who tries to bring the gospel to kids in poor areas of the US, specifically NY (i think). There was a documentary on him on tv a while ago, and I believe it comes on every once and a while.
He has long, dark/grey hair and was shot a few years ago in the streets of NY (at least I think it was NY). He survived the shooting and is still preaching today. He is a radical, hippie type guy who is totally committed to his work. Anybody know what his name is?

Are you referring to David Wilkerson? I don't recall what he looks like, but he has a church in NY, and tries to reach the youth of the city, among other people.

It's either Dale Wilkerson or David Wilkerson. Well, something Wilkerson...Gosh I know what you are talking about. I remember it so vaguely. And I'm surprised I remembered part of his name...Good fellow indeed. But wait, David Wilkerson doesn't have long hair. It's sure gray and balck though...And he owns Times Square Chuch in NY...
