You need to apply a color that is in the red/auburn category.

This counteracts the green from a shade that contained too much of an ash tone for you.

My mom dyed her hair to cover he gray and her turned neon pink. She had to wear a hat for 2 1/2 weeks before she could color it with a different brand hairdye. After that all was well. Good luck

Don't use a color with "A" for ash - that's a green tone. Either mix your regular color with a hair color designated as a "natural" tone or a "warm" tone - it will add gold or red to the mix and cancel out so much of the green. ...Or go for the "Natural" version altogether.

For right now - a Temporary color with warm tones should kill the green for a while... and color toned shampoos will help as well.

Your absolutely best bet is to splurge on a professional color job, they have more training and resources to help take that green cast out of your hair. Don't change brands of color - I did that once and they two different colors reacted against each other. My hair broke and fell out BIG time!

I know how you feel, hon... I dye it blond - and that green made me look like I was from Mars. I thought the Ash would tone down my natural red... instead - like a Leprechaun. (Deep Sigh.) I used peroxide to kill the green - but you know it damages the hair severely - and for your brunette - it would bleach you REALLY Copper penny red - so don't go there.

I love Paul Mitchell's color shampoo... but it's expensive.

Good luck, hon.
