Does anyone know why my pet rats hair would change colors?

I have a grey rat. She is a seemingly healthy female and about 7-8 months old and i noticed recently that her hair on her back up to the middle of her body is changing from dark grey to light grey with a tint of yellow. I tried to wash it off but it won't come off. Does anyone know what this might be from and or how to get rid of it?

I had a few rats that were brown and got gray hairs as they got older. I also had a black one that got silver hairs when she got older. She had that salt and pepper look. For some reason it's not unusal for a gray animal to have some yellowing. I would also check to make sure she's not missing something in her diet.

I am not sure but we had a pet rabbit that went a little nuts because she wantrd a mate could your rat want a mate or maybe just company aleo make sure you are feeding her everything she needs in her diet

Rats average about 2-3 years in life span. Depends on the love and attention. It could also be that she is lonely if you have only one. Rats and mice are best in pairs. Although if you don't want a colony, I would suggest getting another girl rat.
