Grey spots on whites?

I cannot explain the appearance of grey spots on my whites. There are no spots when I put my tees and towels in the washer, but after laundering (when the items have gone through the dryer) there are grey spots. The spots appear on the shoulders and backs of my tees. I have very long hair, could it be from my hair products? If it is, then why are the spots appearing on my hand towels, bath towels and other whites? Does fabric softener cause spotting? Any tips on how to stop and reverse the mysterious grey spotting is appreciated...it is getting expensive to replace tees and towels!

Brightening White Clothing

You should be able to restore dingy clothes to white (and not damage the fibres of the fabric) by soaking them them in lukewarm water and color safe or oxygen bleach for 24 hours, then rinse them with vinegar and water. Use one tablespoon of vinegar to one quart of water. Your clothes may be turning gray because you have hard water, and this diminishes the effectiveness of detergents, and often leaves a residue on clothing. If you think this is the case, you may want to add a powdered water softener to your wash, particularly when washing white clothes.

in my opinion your dryer is your main problem..if you used it for a long time and didn't clean its inside then maybe some things(substances..) got stuck in it....you should call a plumber or somebody like that

If you're pouring fabric softener in on top of your full washing machine, I'd say the softener may well be causing the gray spotting.

Try diluting it first and making sure it mixes in the wash water, not just sits there soaking into the clothes.

Try using no fabric softener as a test-perhaps switch to dryer sheets if the problem seems related to your fabric softener.

Soak your whites in cold water , then use some old fashioned soap bar , the kind used for washing clothes. Remove the clothes from the water , give a good rub with the soap . Leave the soap on and the clothes from water say about 1/2 hour or so. Now back to cold water, give a rub with the soap and leaving the soap on pop into the machine on a 40娼瀋 wash. Once the machine has finished washing the clothes ,hang them out in the sun ,the sun will do the rest of the work by bleaching the stains out , the natural way %26amp; your whites will be whiter than white again
